Hearthdle tips: how to find the card in fewer guesses
Updated on October 20, 2026
In Hearthdle, each guess reveals whether the secret card’s class, cost, attack, health, rarity and set match yours. With the right strategy, you can reach the answer in a few tries even among thousands of cards.
Start in the middle
Your first guess should split the options as much as possible. A neutral 3- or 4-cost minion from a mid-list set tells you a lot: if the class is wrong, you rule out almost every neutral card; if the cost is higher or lower, you know which way to go.
Avoid opening with extreme cards like a 0-mana spell or a 10-mana legendary. They only hit in rare cases and reveal little when they miss.
Use the cost and stat arrows
The cost, attack and health clues tell you whether the right value is higher or lower. Treat it like a search: if the card costs more than 4 and less than 7, the next guess should cost 5 or 6. Attack and health work the same way and help separate minions of the same cost.
If you guessed a minion and attack shows as wrong with no arrow, the secret card has no attack: it is probably a spell or a location. The type column confirms that on the same guess.
Set and rarity close the net
Once class and cost are right, the set is often the decisive clue: the arrow tells you whether the secret card comes from a set released before or after yours. Knowing the expansion order helps you pick the next guess. The Tavern’s sets page lists them all in order, with every card in each.
Card art and text
In Art mode, the illustration starts zoomed in and blurred. Watch the dominant colors and the setting: green and purple tones hint at Warlock and Demon Hunter, icy blue at Mage and Death Knight.
In Text mode, look for keywords and numbers. Effects like Overload, Combo and Outcast reveal the class instantly, and the damage or healing amount usually hints at the card’s approximate cost.
